Seminar in Cracow: Jewish Diversity Tour Application open!

Diversity Tour Poland

Make the most of the Diversity around you

Krakow, June 5th 2011

A one day seminar on topics related to diversity issues and intercultural relations organized by CEJI – A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe in co-operation with the Galicia Jewish Museum and the Krakow Jewish Community Centre, with the support of the Dutch Jewish Humanitarian Fund.

Every day Jews in Poland experience diversity and intergroup relations within a context of immigration and mobility. Dialogue and collaboration with other minorities in the country could be increased, bringing mutual enrichment, respect and support in fighting prejudice and ancient stereotypes, investigating Jewish identity in relation to our daily life.

In this one day workshop you will experience highly interactive and participatory methods bringing to your community a toolset for dealing with diversity in a proactive way.

The Diversity Tour workshop will give you the opportunity to:

_ Identify needs and opportunities for the local Jewish community’s relations with other communities and minorities in their area;

_ Raise participants’ consciousness of the uniqueness of each individual’s identity while exploring the reconciliation between Jewish with national and other identities;

_ Increase participants’ understanding of the concepts and issues related to diversity and anti-discrimination;

_ Develop an appreciation for the complexity and richness of diversity; and

_ Develop individual skills and institutional strategies for creating inclusive intercultural environments

Who: approximately 20 participants from Jewish communities/institutions in Poland. At the end of the day-long event, a community-wide reception will take place, to allow participants to share their experiences with a wider audience and get other people involved in addressing issues of diversity and in creating an inclusive community.
