SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR EASTERN EUROPEAN STUDENTS TO ATTEND YIDISH-VOKH 2011

Thanks to the generosity of the David Frost Fund for Yiddish Culture, Yugntruf:Youth for Yiddish will offer 2 fully-paid scholarships (including travel) to its Yidish-vokh (“Yiddish Week”) retreat in Reisterstown, MD, USA (August 23 – 29, 2011). Only Yiddish-speaking youths between the ages of 18 and 25 from an Eastern European country are eligible to apply.*
The stipend will cover full round-trip travel expenses to the United States and to Yidish-vokh, as well as room and board and all activities. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, June 28, 2011, by online application, email or post. The scholarship recipient will be announced by July 1, 2011.
After filling out our online application form, applicants must email or send their most recent school records to our offices (419 Lafayette Street, New York, NY 10003 USA), and participate in a short telephone interview to confirm their sufficient fluency in Yiddish.

*For the purposes of this stipend Eastern Europe will be defined as: Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine.
